Are we in a false position?

Hi everyone! I thought I would ask the question as I am suffering from a nose bleed with the great heights we are achieving. After the West Brom. game I couldn't help but reflect on the performance and I was left with the thought, Lucky win or well deserved?
I started watching West Ham back in the sixties when a good friends dad took me to see Jim Standen, Peter Brabrook, Johnny Sissions, etc etc. Given the fact I have followed West Ham since that time you will know the pain, anxiety and disappointments I have been through (shared experiences of course!).
I arrive in 2014 and have been pleasantly surprised with what has happened since last season!!!! I won't comment on the Sam thing because many have said their piece. I am left with the following questions:
Can we maintain our current form?
Is it luck or good play?
Can Sam at long last see the job through and take us into the top four in the next 5 years?
Are we still due to come down with the christmas decorations?
I would be interested to hear all of your views.

Unlucky against Utd, Spurs & Everton. Also we are third highest scorers, although Utd and Saints play tomorrow. This is the difference this year we are scoring goals and should have scored more in the second half today.

in another era this West Ham side would have had a fantastic chance of winning the title but alas in todays "money talks" world we don't have a chance of getting near City or Chelsea .

We've only looked outclassed once this season in the Premier League and that was the game v Southampton when we got thumped. We should have beaten Spurs and were unlucky not to get anything at Man U or Everton. One game we've looked second best, one game, not bad really considering.

Whys that then? When we actually beat them? Were their other points "false" as is WHU's lofty position as of today?
There's always been bad decisions, but only few years ago, everyone would be happy with: "the table doesn't lie."

We've had some unlucky results where we lost points plus up until now we could never really play our best team (which may include Sakho and Carroll).
So with the team growing together and getting accustomed to each other more we should continue to play a fine season, injury permitting.

Our third position is false insofar as whatever the result of tomorrows game we will be fourth with every team having played fifteen games.

That is the crazy thing though, I cant EVER remember us not being outclassed at least once every 304 games. I cant EVER remember going into every game thinking that we can get something out of it. I cant EVER remember getting excited that Stewart Downing had got the ball.
It is a weird new world we are living in.......

Unlucky not to get anything against Manchester Utd and Everton. We should be on the same points as Man City. Instead we are looking over our shoulders hanging on to 3rd place for 24hours

I think that Southampton outclassed us at our place. At no time did I think we would win that game.

In my experience, false positions happen after 5 games and not 15, so completely deserved.
Can't remember getting outclassed in a single game yet this season which when you look at the bollocks last season is a miracle.
Keep it going lads and thanks for the happy Christmas you've provided to us all.

Realistically, we deserve to be where we are but more likely finish is 7-8th.

Thing is that we now have the ability to adapt and that has what has been missing for years.
With Carrol, Sakho, Valencia we have the ability to scare the shit out of teams in lots of different ways, not just the lump it up to carroll which was so predictable in the past.
Manager wont know which West Ham they will see and that makes us very dangerous now.
With Song, we now have someone who can mop up and start attacks with downing through the middle and in Cresswell and Jenkinson we have the ability to get the crosses in when needed.
Its a very good team as it stands at present and I can see a top six finish being very achievable.

Not false but a position we are extremely unlikely to hang on to. Top 6 would be magic, top 8 more likely.
